Unhappy Don't forget Chief's.....the screening weight is no more

I have been getting ready for the CPOA next month and I just found out last week that the screening weight that some of us once had assigned is no more. The Academy had around ten cancellations for the class that is there right now due to people not being in compliance. I myself thought that I had to be at my screening weight to go. I was wrong. No worries, I am just going to have to be closer to my max than I thought.

Long story short, be under your max weight or within body fat. The Academy will allow a five pound over max probation and 1% of body fat, but you will be put on the "program." If you are not within MAW, they will send you home. Make sure that you check your MAW block in Direct Access. Check this against the weight manual. Many have been wrong, around 40% in the current class. They will check this figure at the Academy, so don't get caught over.

There are many of us that are in hidden places throughout the Guard and information is not abundant. I just realized this last week and maybe there are other Chief's out there that have orders and do not know. I know that msg. was from last May, but it got by me. Spread the word.

Danny,

If I have a PG7 saying that I am under 25% body fat, is that good enough?

"If I have a PG7 saying that I am under 25% body fat, is that good enough?"

No. The Pg 7 is one of the things they did away with. See ALCOAST 286/06, Para.2.E

or you can go to the new manual....COMDTINST M1020.8F

If you're over your MAW, then it's onto the tape for a body fat % check.

I was measured and my body fat was 20%, though I am 18lbs over my MAW. All of the measurments are included in the pg7. I thought that this new pg7 meant I was good to go?

The way they did it was to get rid of the Page 7.

Next time you get weighed in, if you are over your weight - you WILL be taped - no reprieve. This is to take into account changing body types as we get older.

A kid that is 40 pounds over weight may have 15% body fat... but as he loses muscle (pushing a desk!!), the weight may stay the same with the BF going up and up and... holy crap!! He now looks like the dough boy! THIS is why they changed the regs.

This is precisely why I started this thread. If you are over your MAW at weigh-in time, you will be taped. These results will no longer be recorded on a Pg. 7 and you will not be given a "screening weight." Pass this info around to those who don't know.

Scott, do you have orders to the next CPOA class? I think I see your name on a list. If not, it must be another BMC Coder. If you are going to be taped when you get there, make sure that all of the procedures are followed to the letter from the instruction to check yourself prior to going. Arms at sides, level tape, don't indent the skin, etc. Rest assured, they will follow the instruction to the letter at the Academy. Don't want to see you get sent home.

I also have orders to the Aug CPOA Class...Did everyone get the email from the Yeoman at the CPOA? You'll also need a modified physical exam, signed by a Medical Officer stating your FFD. That needs to also be faxed back to Petaluma prior to attendance.

Seems like a lot of changes have taken place since I went last summer. Good this is getting out. Will pass on to local Chiefs at the Chiefs Call on Thursday afternoon, discussing CCTI.

So how many people got sent home due to the instruction being changed and they thought they were good to go with the now obsolete pg 7 in your class?
