I also get the red X indicating the graphic is not available.

The three graphics have a source of

http://cpoalongbeach.org/images_cgchiefs/forum_new.gif
http://cpoalongbeach.org/images_cgchiefs/forum_old.gif
http://cpoalongbeach.org/images_cgchiefs/user_online.gif

When I went to that exact address, I got a 404 error ... page not found.

That tells me those don't exist on the internet at the location specified.

I suspect that CPOA Long Beach's website doesn't exist because when I went to http://www.cpoalongbeach.org I got this error

Welcome to vDeck

I must be missing something. I remember the anchors being somewhere, but I don't have them now, but I don't have any red X's either. I would recommend deleting your cookies and logging back in again - they should disappear after that.

Edited- I just figured it out, you aren't getting the anchors cause they are not there for Mozilla. Internet explorer is garbage. The links X and the View Who's online links still work, but you are probably getting a red X there too.

I don't know what Mozilla is, but I use internet explorer and I get all of the graphics.

That is likely because you have the images in your cache. So you are showing them from your hard drive. Joe is right, the link to them (for everyone else) is dead. Should be an easy enough fix though. Just locate the icons in your cache then change the hotlink to them in the forum to the new location.

I didn't mean anything by the IE is garbage comment, I have just had a lot of issues with it, but never had any issues with Mozilla or Firefox - it's just an option to use for internet other than IE.

John,

What happens when you visit the cpoa long beach site?

That is the source of those graphics.

http://cpoalongbeach.org/images_cgchiefs/vbulletin3_logo_white.gif is also MIA.

Just click on any of the links I've listed.

Joe...what your saying makes sense except that Dennis sees all of the correct graphics. Why would his link work, but not anyone else?

It does appear that the link is invalid, making the graphic invalid.

ETC Joe Jester ret

Dennis must be getting them from his own machine, probably in the cache. He might lose them if he "refreshes" or clears his cache.

BMC John Phillips III

Joe the same thing, the Vdeck dead link page

Deane, Dennis is getting them cause the images are saved in his cache, he probably hasn't deleted them in a long time. Like I said, since he has the images, all he's gotta do is right click on them and "File save as" or "Save image." Then host them somewhere - on this site would work, then establish a new link to their location.

I would recommend to Dennis to snatch those graphics and place them on his website.

The unfortunate thing is he would have to change the location of all the graphics on this forum to where ever he places them.

I have my browser set to refresh the graphics on every visit to the website, not automatically like some. So, I lost those graphics a few days ago.

I'll have this and all of the other glitches fixed by the end of this coming weekend. I just had to read the Vbulletin manual for awhile.

I just realized that the board has a version of spell check, now. It does require that you do a download, which I did about a minute ago. I'll let you know if it causes any problems.

In regards to spellcheck- when you write a post or reply ot a post, you'll see the spellcheck icon in the upper right corner.

I'll look into the avatars.

In regards to the Avatars-
I disabled them early on to avoid taking up too much room on the server (results in having to pay more money to the server host). However, I enabled them for the subscriber user group because I felt they were entitled to some extras.

Who the hECK'S Terry Pratchett?

Who the hECK'S Terry Pratchett?

Terry Pratchett sold his first story when he was thirteen, which earned him enough money to buy a second-hand typewriter. His first novel, a humorous fantasy entitled The Carpet People, appeared in 1971 from the publisher Colin Smythe. Terry worked for many years as a journalist and press officer, writing in his spare time and publishing a number of novels, including his first Discworld novel, The Color of Magic, in 1983. In 1987 he turned to writing full time, and has not looked back since. To date there are a total of 33 books in the Discworld series, of which three (so far) are written for children. The first of these, The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents, won the Carnegie Medal. A non-Discworld book, Good Omens, his 1990 collaboration with Neil Gaiman, has been a longtime bestseller, and will be reissued in hardcover by William Morrow in early 2006. His new Discworld novel, Thud!, is now available.

Regarded as one of the most significant contemporary English-language satirists, Pratchett has won numerous literary awards, was named an Officer of the British Empire “for services to literature” in 1998, and has received four honorary doctorates from the Universities of Warwick, Portsmouth, Bath, and Bristol. His acclaimed novels have sold 40 million copies worldwide and have been translated into 33 languages.

Terry Pratchett lives in England with his family, and spends too much time at his word processor.
