Dennis,
I have been to units where we talked about it but never got around to putting anything together. We were going to put one together from the whole crew and not just the FS's but as I look back on it I realize nobody took the ball and ran with it. (including myself)
When my wife was Ombudsman when I was on the Mariposa she would put in a recipe or two in her monthly newsletter. I don't remember if she included recipes when she was Ombudsman when I was on the Alex Haley.
We always had some secret family recipes from the other FS's in the galley that we shared and incorporated into the menus.

Well I just remembered a dish I used to make for midrats. The crews really liked it and wanted me to put it on the menu but I don't have a name for this meal. I eventually put it on the menu as someone came up with a name for it that was somewhat suitable.;)
The name they came up for it was Papa Parker's Pita's.:D
Cook up some Ground Italian Sausage (or regular sausage and use Italian seasoning)
Sautee some diced onions, sliced mushrooms and spinach after the saugage is just about done.
When that's all done, crumble up some Feta cheese and mix it together
Serve in Pita Bread that has been cut in half.
I'm sure this has a real name but I don't know what it's called so we just call it Papa Parker's Pita's.

If you want to send recipies and a digital photo of the finished product, I'll start a section in cgchiefs.com to publish them.

We use a lot of internet recipes in my galley and if we find a good one we save it to a word document. I have a recipe folder with sub-folders for meat, poultry, soup, baking, etc etc.
Let me find the recipe for the stuffed chicken we had yesterday. It was simple and very very good.

Tatar Tot Casserole
1 bag of tater tots, 1 lb Hamburger, 1 can cream of chicken soup, 1 can cream of mushroom soup, fill one can with milk, and shredded cheese.
Pre heat oven to 350 degrees
Empty bag of tater tots into a 9x13 cake pan
Brown hamburger and add what ever seasoning you like (I use Johnny lowery seasoning salt)
In a bowl empty the cream of chicken and cream of mushroom soup, fill one empty can with milk and add to the bowl. Mix thoroughly
Add hamburger to the soup and milk mix.
Pour mix over tater tots
Bake in the 350deg oven for 30 min
After 30 min remove from oven and add the shredded cheese over the top and bake for another 30 min.
Done
Some variations are to add onions while browning the hamburger and adding a vegetable. Corn seems to get the best results with green beans as the second best.
Enjoy

ART,
Are they still using any recipes from "Cooking for Fifty" or the "Large Quanity Cookbook" on the Sycamore?
I bought those cookbooks for the boat about 5 or 6 years ago when I was on there.
There are some Awsome recipes in there that I had on the menu when i was the FSO.
Some that comes to mind are the Wisconsin Chedder Cheese Soup, the Peanut Butter Soup and the San Francisco Bayside Chipino recipes.
If they still have those cookbooks and are not using them have the FSO take a look at them because there are tons of great recipes in them.

Since it is football season, try this recipe for a Buffalo Chicken dip. I tried it after a BM1 gave me the recipe, make it almost once a week now. It rocks for football Sunday.
Ingredients
2 packages of Philadelphia Cream Cheese (Large Packs)
1 Bag (1 lb) of Shredded Cheddar Cheese
2 Cups of Franks Red Hot
1 Cup of Bleu Cheese Dressing
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
2 lbs boneless skinless chicken
2 bags Tostitos "Scoops"
1) In a bowl combine the following ingredients:
Cream Cheese
2 cups of the hot sauce
1 tsp cayenne
1 cup dressing
1/2 of the cheddar
Blend lightly; use a hand mixer to blend
2) Cook chicken by grill or pan frying, when chicken is cool either pull it, food processor, or dice it.
3) Combine the chicken with contents of bowl and lightly mix until fully incorporated.
3) Place contents of bowl into casserole dish. Top with second half of cheddar, bake at 400 degrees for 30 minutes or until bubbly.

Not sure if they still use that cook book but I do see the guys sitting on the mess deck looking thru cook books to come up with new meals.
I'm heading home this week (GEO Bachelor) and will add my BBQ baked beens for the football fans. Great filler food at get togethers also.

Here is my recipe for anything......
Find a house with a nice kitchen
Ensure kitchen meets Wife's expectations
Stay out of kitchen
Keep kids out of kitchen
Supply funding
Eat what ever comes out of the kitchen
Work out twice a day for the rest of my life.
I could probabley get some recipes from Stacey, I know she has been working on a Cookbook, and I know she would want to help out.
I wouldn't want to take any of her credit. I just wait to get on TV, it's a hard job, but some has to do it.
