I found this funny this morning. I open a packet from HQ with the new Auxiliary Policy Statement, nicely printed on heavy poster board. They sent us 20 or so.

After a minute I read the title again, it reads

"U.S. Coast Gaurd Auxiliary Policy Statement"

Oooops - I was going to let them know they mispelled "Guard", but not sure which HQ unit sent them out, it didn't say on the envelope.

They didn't even spell it right at the top "The Commandant of the United States Coast Gaurd" as well as the title. The rest of the document it is spelled correctly.

I've heard that the Coast Guard is always changing. Maybe this is one of the changes?

Got mine today, 20 or so them also. Why do I need that many? I guess they really wanted to send out the error in mass numbers

spell check doesn't work when you type in CAPITOL letters (unrelated - it doesn't account for synonyms or wrong words either)

Actually, JP it will check uppercase words, at least the spell checker in Microsoft Word. Click on "Tools" --> "Options" --> the "Spelling and Grammar" tab" --> then uncheck the box about ignoring UPPERCASE words.

I only wish they came out with a 'synonym checker'; that would be ideal.

Actually Scott,

MS Word

On the Tools menu, click Research.
In the Search for list, select Thesaurus.
Press ALT and click the word you want to look up.

At least that's not half as bad as having COAST GAURD on the side of your station's 41.

Now THAT would be Funny!

It would be funny, even would be sad, but a good Boatswain Mate would pick it up before it was even applied

Chris,

You have the key words in this sentence, (good Boatswain Mate). I have seen a lot of half A**ers that haven't cared how things looked, in all rates.
