Someone help me out with this. Is this survey for real or a way to get more people to view this site? Seems like a cheap way to get people to view this site.

Survey was for real. I got my first sight of it from a CDR. And let's substitute cheap ...... for clever.

I haven't seen the survey, where can you view it??

I saw it over on Military.com under PCP. The thread lists the PAC and LANT Area CMC's as the POC's. Survey only takes a couple of minutes to complete.
I am kind of curious why it would be posted on military.com though.

The retired guys over there are already talking conspiracy theories, and that it's a scam by us to draw more people to the sight.

Anyway, back to reality.

That explains why I didn't see it, received the message and went to military.com to check it out. Immediately reminded why I don't read or post over there anymore. "Back to reality" is exactly right Ian.

But Ian, this theory worked. I'm told that over 1200 people took the survey and 450 of them were Chiefs. We've had a lot of people who hadn't heard about the site, join. If that was the intend of the survey, it worked well. As for one of us starting the thing in the first place .......... I barely had enough technical skills to take the survey, let alone create it. And if you take the survey now it leads you somewhere else.

The survey over on Fred's/Military.com was posted there by an FS1. Guess that's just more of the mystery of it linking to here. Maybe Bill James or Kevin Isherwood will check in here and give us some insight.

Those that know me, know that I will answer any/every question asked. The text of the email explained the reason for the survey. There was NO intent for it to reach Freds Place. (Anyone remember MCPOCG Welch's (FFP), I think I am begining to understand it.)

Anyway, FS1 Stacey Russell of Sector Long Island Sound was, I presume, just trying to be helpful when she posted the survey on FP. I am hoping that it turns out that way.

As for the survey sending folks to CGChiefs.com, that was all me. For two years I have watched Chiefs in here bitch about the lack of CGChiefs.com awareness/visibility and low membership numbers. I could have sent the respondents to any website in the world and I choose yours! And now folks are complaining about the exposure and increased membership.....go figure.

Master Chief, I thought it was pretty cool attatching the link to the survey. It's great to see the sight get more exposure and membership. I just thought it was strange being posted over at FP, and now we know how it got there.

To tell you the truth, today was the first time I had even seen the survey.

And Master Chief, I think that it's great. We've been relying on word of mouth for too long. I'd like to get the word out to everyone in the CG. I'd like too see every Chief join and all the E-6 and below join the Deckplate forum. This site can only be used as an information source if people are aware that it exists........... after that it's going to need their input.

Thank you for getting the word out. By the way, when was the last time you were reffered to as a "Man of Action" ? When you want to send a message, you really send a message..........

I could have sent the respondents to any website in the world and I choose yours!

That's awesome!

I think its great. There are some over there that will question it. If they are retired Chiefs they have every right to join here and bring their concerns to discuss.

have fun,
Ralph

As for the survey sending folks to CGChiefs.com, that was all me.

Master Chief,

Thanks for representing the way a Chief should!

"That's right. I did it. It was me. Any questions!"

I truly appreciate people like you in the Mess... I hope this "backbone mentality" filters down to the coming generation of Chiefs.

Great Job MC Isherwood. I offer the Gold Badges I know to join here and they say "no". One reason was what one of our threads was, too many of the same people responding! Keep the link!

Guess I'm not on top of things as I should be -- What survey?

I received an email yesterday from an old Chief Buddy, now a CWO talking about a survey, and how he found the link to CGCHIEFS.com And saw something I posted. Evidently he didnt know about this sight. I just received the survey and baam, now Im on this sight again. It came full circle. So if I have failed to mention it yet, welcome aboard MC Isherwood. We go from hearing next to nothing from our gold badges, to getting prime time results from our MC's. I would much rather find out information str8 from the horses mouth than to hear junk passed through a grapevine. Facts are facts, anything else is useless information to disregard.

Master Chief Isherwood,

I posted some comments about the survey itself on the CG Policy board on this site.

OK I usually do things the right way but I worked this one backward.

I read this site as I don't visit the other one very often and I did not get the email, but after going to the other site I decided I would take the survey and increase the # of Chiefs that have taken it, then I clicked done and voila! Here I am, I like it and "Clever" is definitely what I would lable it!
