I was an XPO for 4 years of Recruiting Office Corpus Christi. I have applied for and been successfully screened for a position as a Recruiter In Charge tour.
I am really looking forward to the tour. Are there any others out there who have served as an RIC that might have some insight for me?
If not, then perhaps an NCOIC that might have some insight for me?
Just using the Mess for what it was intended...

Eric, pleeeaaasssee screen them good and don't let any folks with prior baggage into our Coast Guard.
Congratulations on successfully making the cut for RIC. I am sure by reading your posts, you will accept only the best & not be pressured into meeting said goals...

I know a current RIC and they have been very frustrated by the way they have to recruit and the policies that are in place for recruiting. I'm not trying to scare or discourage you, I'm just passing what I've heard from my friend many times.
I hope that you keep the faith and do the best you can within your guidance.

I also have a Chief buddy in Recruiting and he shares similar frustrations as Deanes friend. Good Luck!

Eric,
Support the Advertising Branch personnel, they can help you out tremendously by making your advertising $$ go further.
I was at CGRC from 2000-2002.

As an XPO we were very selective as to who we let into our fine seagoing service.
We would talk with 250-400 people per month and hire 3 to 5 of them. I would stand by any of my recruits to this day.
I have heard of the frustrations with the newer computerized reservation system and the like, thank God for the Mess and the network that we have with one another. We can always pick up the phone!
Senior, how can I support the Advertising folks best so they support my office? Are you talking about sending them a bottle of scotch on Christmas?

Yeah, that's the first time I've ever heard of it. I guess someone has to be 2nd in charge. Who gets to be the EPO?
Eric, good luck with the recruiting gig. I can vouch for at least one of Eric's former recruits- outstanding coastie.

John,
Thanks for the vouch. How is ol' Julian doing? Have you heard from him?

Well, I have departed the MALLET but I am sure he is still their best performer. Unfortunately he still hasn't chosen a rate but I believe he still wants to go aviation.
