Isn't he the one that has been OIC of like every new england unit there is?

What I know of Master Chief Bowen is:
1. He has an impressive resume.
2. He sat on my OIC review board in Miami (years ago).
3. I had a nice converstation with him on the phone the other day, prior to him getting "the call", and I have full faith that he is an outstanding man for the job. At they say at the CPOA... "Trust the process".

Nevermind, just read the mesage and it's not who I was thinking.

edited to add: We have gone from a former QM that excelled at the BM aspect of his job to a true BM. Things keep looking up!

Good Point Deane.

Congratulations to BMCM Bowen.

Ken, you are thinking of BMCM Jack Downey!

Also congrats to Skip, he'll do a great job. And for those interested BMCM Downey will be retiring from HAMMERHEAD in the beginning of September. It's till be the Change of Command "to attend" up north this summer.

I wonder what his feelings are in regards to being referred to as the E-10! Ok, so I don't really care, I just know how that makes some peoples blood boil!

Congratulations to BMCM Bowen!

I had the honor of serving with MC Bowen here at HQ, a top notch guy! Congrats MC!

Burt,
That's the guy. I saw BMCM Downey as the kind of guy I'd like to see as the E-10, but the powers that be probably wouldn't ;)

One of his ex-XPO's told me he never sat at the computer. He would have his XPO check his e-mail, print out those that needed a reply, hand write the reply and have his XPO type it out and send it. He basicly had a 30-day message board of his e-mail. :D

Thats great Ken. Not everyone would be so trusting!

Well Jack Downey has become a little more computer savvy these days, he actually uses one and has gone pretty much paperless. Guess it was that tour at the Academy at Command and Ops School that did it. He used to be a total riot running the radar lab simulations.

And there's a chance that Skip Bowen will show up for Jack's retirement. Jack may be the current OinC of HAMMERHEAD, but Skip was the first.

MCPO Bowen was the judge at my initiation.

Great selection, Admiral Allen and Master Chief Bowen, a gret combination.

Bruce,
You are absolutely right, the job at the Academy made MC Downey savvy with the computer but you better hope the simulator worked the way he wanted it or you soon heard words that haven't made it to the dictionary. He is a great guy I learned a lot from him (whether it was getting roughed up by him or actually learning something). Last I knew he cut the cigarettes and started working out.

I just had a meeting with some HQ personnel and from what I've heard of the combination of Adm Allen and MCPO Bowen, the Coast Guard is in for a "shake up" of the good, overdue and much needed kind.

I hope the boys at the puzzle palace that gave me that info are right!
