For me the meaning of a real Chief is belonging to a strong community that supports each other above all others. A real Chief will do every thing they can to make their command be as impressive as possible and to ensure all policies whether popular or not are embraced. It is a lot of responsibility but one I look forward to.

Tracy-
Welcome to the board.
So, you would support your fellow Chiefs above all others? How do you reconcile that with your duty to support your subordinates and superiors? How do you resolve the potential conflicts?
"Screw everyone else, I'm here for the Chiefs first!" Is that you?

I think you are being harsh. I do not think that was what Tracy was trying to say, if we want more Chiefs to take part in this forum we can not treat them like that, especialy on their first post.

Are you kidding me!?!
He obviously made the post as a requirement from his Mess. And, I'm sure he can stand up for himself. Otherwise, he wouldn't have put on those anchors.
I asked some legitimate questions for a PCPO to answer.
Shheeesshhh....

Settle down Mark.
Dennis is challenging PCPO Hoover to clarify his post in what a "Real Chief" is. Making a PCPO answer thought provoking questions is what this process is all about.

I think it is a great question too Dennis. Seemed a bit hasty to be well thought out. Three lines is all?
Welcome to this great board Tracy!

Senior has already been mean :D so I won't ask my question. welcome to the board Tracy.........................NAH I'm gonna ask, " A real Chief will do every thing they can to make their command be as impressive as possible" HMMM , EVERYTHING, what about the little guy, do they get affected negatively, does your excitement to make the command impressive over shadow your responsibility to the little guy to make this happen? Just askin'
Again Tracy, welcome aboard.

If you want, CPOs to participate you cannot go about scaring them away, especially if that person has not been around a lot or in not thick-skinned enough yet.
By the way, I was settled down.
You want to know what gets my goat, the persons on this site that complain that there is not enough participation and then go and scare someone away.
I was charged with posting to this site during my CCTI, yet I have stayed and participate when I have something to say.
If you think he was doing just because then educate him on why he should be apart of this on line mess, not kick him in the teeth and send him on his way.

By the way, PCPO Hoover you could help yourself out a little by keep participating on this site and explain what you were trying to say a little better. You will also need to get a little thicker in the skin.

I charged Chief Hoover (he went through his CCTI last night and did just fine) with posting to this site. No one "scared" him away. He hasn't been back to the site since he made this post...he's probably just not into this type of thing...and that's OK.
If any of you know Blaine...he's not scared of anything and he certainly would post a reply if he wanted to.
Mark...I think you're reading to much into Dennis post. Go back and read it again...and again. He's just asking some good questions.

I was at Blaine's CCTI yesterday. I don't think you need to worry about the thickness of his skin. (Unless it is the skin on the back of his head. Right Blaine? :D )
Blaine, now that you are a CHIEF, I hope you will share your experience and opinions with the rest of us. I know that you have them just like I do. And you wont need to look at to many threads to see that I am just as vocal as you can be.
Welcome aboard.

Jim and 3 of his fellow Chiefs from ANT Kennewick drove 4+ hours each way (in inclement weather) to attend this CCTI.
The Chiefs from ANT Kennewick are "Real Chiefs"!
