Hello all,
Does anybody have/know of a "frocking certificate?" I have a BM1 being frocked to Chief and on his way to a XPO afloat billet. Thanks in advance.

Why wouldnt it just be a standard advancement certificate?

Why any certificate at all... the member is only being authorized to wear the next pay grade devices... he is not getting the pay.... like Nick says, when he/she is officially advanced, they will get their certificate.
K.I.S.S. princial applies here. ;)

Even if they are not getting the pay they do have ALL of the authorities and responsibilities of the higher pay grade. From the day of the frocking, he is a Chief (E-7). I would not treat frocking any differently then a normal advancement. Look at why we frock, we don't want the person showing up in the next job in the lower pay grade. If you present the certificate to them 3 months after they report you have just undermined the intent of frocking them.

What intent have you undermined? They have the authority where it counts.. in their service record. Chances are if they didn't say anything no one, other than their CO/OIC would know..
Let's face it... it is nothing more than a piece of paper that says you can do the job, but not get the pay... where do you thing that would go? Personally I would want the certificate when the advancement was official, and I was getting the pay.
It is purely a personal choice, and that is mine.

I was frocked when I made 8, my departing command wanted to do an advancement ceremony so that I could be recognized by the people I worked with. Understanding that the actual frocking does not take place until upon departure we did a ceremony the day before I actually left. A copy of an advancement letter was read and my wife pinned me. No certificate was issued or any other paperwork except that which was needed in order to go get new ID cards. Two months later while at my new (current) unit I actually advanced for pay purposes. The command here did the actual reading of the certificate and letter from the MCPO-CG. But I was not pinned again. I certainly did not feel undermined, The feeling was more of "finaly more money"

CG-3307 is the appropriate "frocking" certificate. That or a copy of the Orders.

I was frocked prior to my tour in BQN, the ceremony was in the CO's office and only the CPO's atended. The only paper I got was the message stating the order to frock. Upon the date of my actual advancment I was again given the certificate in the presence of the CPO's. Did not miss anything by getting up infront of the troops as the Chiefs made both days special enough.
