In the latest issue of the MCPOCG Notes (Feb-Aug 08), it lists as a project to increase the Officer in Charge NJP authority to mirror Junior Officers serving as CO's. The proposal is being reviewed by CG-53.
Sounds like a good idea to me. What do you think? Is this a good idea? Bad idea?

About time.
15-15-3 people could do standing on their head. Well, at some places (Isolated) even the JO's authority could be done standing on their head.

While it may not be a bad idea, as an OIC you always have the option of referring things "up the chain".... I have done that feeling I could not award sufficient punishment.

I'm sure with the increase in authority, there will still be times it's not appropriate and the movement up the chain to someone with the appropriate authority can handle it.

I like that you could reduce someone if need be. With that authority being held at the Sector Level now, you're left hoping that the higher authority takes the same steps that you would. I've seen where someone gets bumped up to a higher authority and they impose less that the lower level could have. That kind of undermines the thought process.
