A well deserved honor for a true American icon. I had the high honor last month of taking a Coast Guard Color Guard to the United States Gold Association headquarters in Far Hills NJ for the dedication ceremony of their remodeled museum, named in honor of Arnold. They asked for our participation because of Arnold's Coast Guard service before going on to golf immorality.
After the ceremony we had the opportunity, at his request so he could talk to us about his time in the Coast Guard. He insisted on first getting some pictures of us all and then told everyone to leave us alone for a few. The next 10 minutes would beyond words as he told us of his time in the service and what it had done for him in shaping who and what he became. And he wanted to know about our experiences also. We presented him with a Coast Guard ball mark and coin. And he gave us his signature colored umbrella ball mark.
I'll post a picture as soon as the USGA forwards them down to me.

That's pretty awesome. Thanks for the link.
From the looks of the photo, Mr. Palmer was an SK3???

Nope, found a better pic. He was a YN3.
I wonder if there are any old salts from the 50's still around that were stationed with him?

That pretty good, I will share this with my crew. I meet a WWII Coast Guard Vet today and invited him to visit with my crew on Monday
