Like I said, I wasn't offended. But I know many who would be. So I am speaking for them. I was thinking that if they really wanted to distinguish active ODU's from reserves, the active side should have an extra pocket for a box of Kleenex since I hear them whine about the reserves all the time. ;)

I don't whine about the reserves but I do give them crap from time to time in the same manner I would give say, a BM crap about having the IQ of a RAS token. Oh wait you never got one of those even after all your crying. :D . Hey the reserves around where I work seem to do a great job. I have a reserve IT1 Billet at my ESD that I still haven't figured out how to fill but I would love to have that body. It would be much easier for the reserves to call the reserve IT when they foget their password after a month. :eek: . I had a reserve ETC pin on one of my anchors.

I'm all for a good joke, but I also can't believe that we put this on an official site that is open for anyone and everyone to see. Sorry but it's just not professional. I think that if anyone here had done something along these line with their unit's web page, there would be hell to pay right now.

Having seen the good and the bad when it comes to reserves, I think that this was way out of line. This is funny at whose expense? Show this at the next Reserve All Hands at your respective Sectors and see what type of reaction they have and then tell them we are laughing at you and not with you. This is team Coast Guard, and anyone who thinks this is funny, well I guess we know how they truly feel about the reserve component.

I would also say the same thing if this was done at the Auxilarists expense as well. A componant of the CG that is in many cases, is more dedicated and serves a vital role in many missions, and acting as a force multiplier to our small 40,000 active duty workforce. After 9-11, both the Reserves and Auxiliarists roles changed, in a time that was crucial and the CG's missions expanded 10 fold overnight. The same for Hurricane Katrina and Rita.

I am all about a good laugh, but this is not one of them.

It would have been even better if they had 2 other pictures, one with "Active Duty" and one with "Auxiliarist" on them too...that way it would be fair across the board.

Well............... that was posted on a reserve web site.. Don't the "reserves" maintain their own web site? Isn't there some sort of ADULT supervision, regardless of who maintains the site?? I too have delt with reserves & had Excellent ones & dirt bags.. you know, sort of like the "active duty" side of the house...... That's part of life....

As Don Rickles said.. We all need to be able to laugh at ourselves as well as others.. Well, something like that.. it has been many years since I saw him in Vegas.. but that was a side splitting show.
