Well since you just can't make this kind of stuff up I had to share a good laugh with everyone.
At the bottom of every CG-4100 Boarding Report was the Boating Safety Hotline number (800) 368-5647. Boater's were encouraged to contact the number is they had any questions following a boarding for safety related issues. A couple of years ago that hotline was shut down by the HQ office that paid for it due to funding issues. But we have yet to remove it from the boarding forms we are still using today.
It now seems that that 800 number has been reissued, this time to a dating service. So I guess now if you are feeling bad about being violated during a boarding you can call start down the road to feeling better. We truely are now a full servive humanitarian service.

That is great.
I can see the Congressional Inquiry now ....
Admiral Allen, why are you directing my constituents to call a dating service?
:)
Stand-by for a message directing you to shitcan all those old CG-4100's. If you haven't already taken the initiative.
Scan one for "historical purposes" before destroying them all.

To all,
Be advised that HQ is, and has been, aware of this problem for the last 2 or so years....not only is this number on the 4100's, it is also on several boating safety phamplets as well....
You may want to tell your folks if they see that number to line thru it....

Additionally, when the "boarding slip" prints out from the PDA the same number is listed at the bottom.

Cutterman8, aka CMC Bradley,
This might be something to put up on the LE Board on Freds/Military.com just to inform Coasties that mention the number during boardings not to mention it anymore, and even to ink a line through the number before you give the boater thier copy.

Two plus years later you would have thought that HQ would have already told us to do that. Wray that pool and Capt'n life is starting to look better and better.

It is a bit disturbing how many websites still list that number when you google CG Boater Safety hotline.

Ya know I was gonna say something about him on this thread, but left it alone. But since you opened the door Jeff, if she's the kind of talent on the other end of the phone.....naw might need a second mortgage to afford that one.

It's a shame that two plus years and the software still has the number. I guess they haven't found the low bidder yet to remove the bogus number.
Very professional ... lining through a number that has been disgarded two years ago. Especially something being printed from an electronic device placed in service within the last two years.

At my last MM unit, we had migrated to the PDA to do boardings. We didn't use the paper version anymore. I thought the rest of the CG was migrating also? How many units are still using the paper form?

I heard that a msg just came out stating immidiate revisions must be made to the 4100. Anyone seen it yet?
That was quick. ;)

Deane, see Nick's post, the PDA still prints that phone number on that "form".

How many units are still using the paper form?
Deane...we have both and use both. The younger guardian BO's use the PDA, the ones who have been doing it for years use the paper.
For rec boats, most all use the PDA, but for fisheries they prefer the 4100F.
I have never used the PDA, so I 'm not sure how user friendly it is and how much data actually populates into MISLE.
I guess I am a fan of the paper form. I have seen that little printer the troops carry around with them. I often wonder what the fishermer does with the receipt they are given. If it's any thing close to what I do with my receipts.... The paper form in my opinion is easier for the fisherman to read and understand.

Have any units outside of D9 seen anything on this? D9 sent a message telling folks to line out the number.
I was just wondering if anyone has taken this for action.

Wow. Less than a month! Motivation is a wonderful thing.
Hopefully all the PDA's has been updated to reflect the obliteration of the 800 number. If the update isn't available, shame on HQ. If the update is available, shame on the CO/OICs.
As I read the message, shame on HQ is my first thought.
