Is there a message or something out that states that in order to wear coveralls they have to have the USCG above the pocket and on the back? The uniform manual says in short that if the need for ID is required then it shall be. I am talking about a person needing to put a pair on over their uniform to do a job.
Thanks

Brett,
This is a little old, but I don't recall any recent changes to the coveralls. Very well could be though.
As you said referring to manual, and as the message states, if identification is considered essential you can mark them IAW. I don't remember any fancy marked coveralls on the tender:rolleyes: Just dirty stinky ones.

Hey Sparky as I remember lots of stinking ones.
If anyone else has input on this, I like a copy. Last week while in town I noticed a member walking down the sidewalk around 6pm shopping while in coveralls with USCG on the front and back.

Tim, what town was that in? I hope not ours!
Although it's not specifically addressed, I require my ANT boatcrews to wear the USCG coveralls (no flags) as the prescribed underway uniform. We destroy ODU's.
They are ONLY worn when actually underway. Not in the truck. Not to/from work. Not on base. Just underway.

We are placing an order today for coveralls from Eagle Work Clothes. We requested a waiver through CWO Tarvin Greene at HQ Uniform Program and was told that the Eagle Work Clothes coveralls didn't require a waiver. They meet all the characteristics of the standard coverall and are on a GSA contract. E-Mail me if you want the actual part number.
As far as the USCG, as in the message above, it is only necessary if it is required for the work being performed. But if it is necessary then it has to meet the 1" and 3" standards.
We also looked into the special purpose coveralls earlier this year (trying to buy insulated coveralls). It seems fairly easy to get a waiver through the Uniform Program, if you have a legitimate justification. If anyone needs a sample justification letter, I can E-Mail one to you

That message mirrors the Uniform Manual which is all I could find also. I appreciate the help and if anyone else can come up with a message stating anything other than that already stated please post.
Hey tim, do you remember me from the days of old. Hell Sparky does and he's a BM....Sorry Sparky.

Tim,
How the heck are you. Still have not forgotten the night you paid a hefty tab for me! I still owe you for that one.
Brett..no need for sorry's, it's hard to forget the DC's I served with:D
Speaking of coveralls. I can't recall who it was, maybe an EM? He walked around in them damn trash bags trying to lose weight! Funniest and stinkest thing I ever saw!

You know Sparky, I tell that sory all the time and can't for the life of me remember his name. Hell his rack was right above mine. I won't even begin to tell my thoughts about it on here....lol
If my memory serves me correctly you were the one that got me out of bed only minutes after getting off midwatch because that boat had run aground. I thought I was dreaming until I saw people running down the passageway with dry suites on....Do you remember how we saved that one? I think you were the coxn' on the 10 hr tow we did on the boat we thought was taking on water only to find out it had lost a prop and was anchored. I believe that was from the far end of the bay. I know the weather sucked.

It very well could have been me. I tell ya, there was a lot of stuff that happened that probably would be front page news now-a-days. Oh how the times have changed. Nothing beats wrestling buoys in 30+ seas(some would have said 60  )
Mr. Dennis Thaute, the BOSN! "Get to work you "Pig $uckers". I can still hear him today. When I worked for him I believe he had 27 years AFLOAT. Never touched land. Now, if you gotta go out on deck to tango with gear, the BOSN was the only one I was going out with, and we did. What a great tour!

Chris it was here in Alameda on Park St., I wasn't able to say something because I was in a car.
Sparky things are good here in Cali. Liking it more than I thought I would. I don't remember what tab you are talking about so you are off the hook.
Brett of course I remember you, my favorite memory of you, is when you sang Puff the Magic in the club in Ketchikan.
