Over on Fred's I was in a discussion concerning senior reserve enlisted positions and the possible involuntary transfers of E-8/9's. Someone mentioned that they don't belong on boats and belong in traveling silver/gold badge positions.

Anyways, in the thread I had mentioned that in my 12 yrs of reserve time in Duluth, MN and now MSD St. Paul, MN I had never seen a 'badge'. Hell, while in Duluth, I thing I saw the Group commander maybe once.

Well, literally 2 min. after I made that post I received an email that the Commandant and the MCPOCG will be visiting my unit in 5 days. So I started looking for the bugs that had to have been placed in my office.

Today was that mtng, and I was able to attend. What an oppotunity to meet not only the Commandant, but the MCPOCG also, together, in a gathering of about 25 Coasties and spouses. During the Q&A, I stood up and told the Commandant and Master Chief this story which got a pretty good chuckle out of the crowd. Afterwards Master Chief told me he liked that story and that I need to post that he was here. He also said that he recognized my name from CGchiefs.com, and what a good site this is and that he browses this quite often.

So, Master Chief, as per your request, people now know you were here. Thanks for visiting.

Kind of a long story, Wray. The Comdt shared with us why he and MC were in town, although I'm not sure that I am at liberty to share that info. If/when Master Chief reads this, he may be able to tell you why. Sorry.

I don't think that it's an OPSEC concern for an appearence on "A Prairie Home Companion".

~DING, DING, DING~ Not an OPSEC concern at all, but a possisble a "we don't want the Cadets to know until it happens." I can fill you in through a PM if you'd like. Did you hear them on the show, MC?

Now that the cat's out of the bag, the Comdt and MC weren't in uniform due to time constraints in getting to the show on time. That is why they came in civies. They left for the show right after meeting with us.

Here is the link to the script of Garrison Keillor and the Comdt and MC. There is also a link there to listen to it.

I actually heard part of that radio broadcast. We were 'surfing' the radio channels and heard the first part of it. The wife and I had to leave to meet a friend for dinner so we missed the rest of it.

ADM Allen has a very recognizable voice.
