Here it is....I don't have the list in front of me as I'm at home, but I don't think it moved much! Look....still ZERO on BMCM!

SUBJ: MAY 2007 SERVICEWIDE EXAM REVISED CUTOFFS
A. CGPC MEMO 1430 OF 29 JUN 07 (MAY 07 SWE)
1. ENLISTED CUTOFFS ARE DESIGNED FOR PLANNING AND GUARANTEE
ADVANCEMENTS TO THOSE MEMBERS AT/ABOVE THE CUTOFF, BASED ON
PROJECTED VACANCIES DURING A SPECIFIC PERIOD OF ELIGIBILITY.
ADVANCEMENTS OCCUR BASED ON ACTUAL VACANCIES IRRESPECTIVE OF THE
CUTOFF. THOSE NOT ADVANCED, BUT AT/ABOVE THE CUTOFF AT THE END OF
THE CYCLE, ARE CARRIED OVER TO THE NEXT SWE ELIGIBILITY LIST.
2. PERSONNEL ARE REMINDED THAT THE CO'S RECOMMENDATION FOR
ADVANCEMENT MUST BE MAINTAINED FOR THE PERIOD FROM RECOMMENDATION
TO ADVANCEMENT. PERSONNEL FAILING TO MAINTAIN THE CO'S
RECOMMENDATION FOR THIS PERIOD SHALL BE INVALIDATED FROM THE SWE(S)
IN WHICH THEY PARTICIPATED. PERSONNEL WHO HAVE BEEN INVALIDATED
MUST BE RECOMMENDED AND QUALIFY AGAIN THROUGH A NEW SWE
COMPETITION.
3. ALL RATINGS/PAY GRADES IDENTIFIED IN REF A ARE LISTED. IN
SITUATIONS WHERE THE SWE LIST OF CANDIDATES HAS ALREADY BEEN
CLEARED, "EXHAUSTED" IS SHOWN FOR THE NAME. IN SITUATIONS WHERE
THE SWE HAS BEEN WAIVED AND A SUPPLEMENTAL LIST IS BEING
MAINTAINED, "SUP LIST" IS SHOWN FOR THE NAME.
4. THE INFORMATION BELOW PROVIDES THE NAME OF THE PERSON AT THE
CUTOFF POSITION FOR THE RESPECTIVE RATING FOR THE MAY 2007 SWE.

ADVANCEMENT IS NO LONGER INDICATED. ACTUAL RANK ORDER NUMBER
FOUND AT THE PERSONNEL SERVICE CENTER'S WEB SITE
HTTP://CGWEB.PSC.USCG.MIL/ADV.HTM IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE.
6. PERSONNEL WHO APPEAR ABOVE THE CUTOFF ON A SWE ELIGIBILITY LIST
ARE GUARANTEED ADVANCEMENT IF THEY REMAIN ELIGIBLE. HOWEVER, THESE
PERSONNEL ARE CONSIDERED NOT ELIGIBLE FOR FURTHER SWE COMPETITION
UNTIL THEY ADVANCE OFF THIS SWE ELIGIBILITY LIST. THOSE PERSONNEL
PLACING BELOW THE CUTOFFS, PROVIDING THEY REMAIN ELIGIBLE TO
COMPETE, WILL BE MAILED A SWE FOR THE SAME PAY GRADE FOR SUBSEQUENT
COMPETITION AND ARE HIGHLY ENCOURAGED TO PARTICIPATE. PERSONNEL WHO
APPEAR ON TWO SWE ADVANCEMENT LISTS AND ARE EITHER OFFERED
ADVANCEMENT OR IDENTIFIED FOR ADVANCEMENT FROM THE EARLIER SWE
ELIGIBILITY LIST AS A RESULT OF A REVISION TO THE CUTOFFS, ARE
REMOVED FROM THE LATER SWE ELIGIBILITY LIST IN WHICH THEY COMPETED.
7. AS NEW INFORMATION BECOMES AVAILABLE, E.G., NEW POSITIONS,
UNEXPECTED RETIREMENTS OR SEPARATIONS, OR OTHER PROGRAM CHANGES
IMPACTING THE ENLISTED WORKFORCE, THE NEED TO MODIFY THESE CUT NBRS
WILL BE EXAMINED. WHEN/IF THIS OCCURS, REVISED CUTOFFS WILL BE
PUBLISHED VIA ALCGENL.
8. INTERNET RELEASE AUTHORIZED.

Congrats to those of us that were qualified for the BMCS list!

Any chances that the revised cut will miss up our AY08 orders?

BMCM Stuart S. Slesh
01-01-2008, 10:57 AM
Jeff, I think it's too late in the game to change orders now. I also think they knew, or at least had a really good idea, who was advancing next year before they filled the slate.

BMCS Jim Madsen
01-01-2008, 02:03 PM
To what Stu said, let me add that you should not be suprised when you are getting settled in to your new command and the AO calls you and tells you that your new job is being shopped. So make a copy of that screening package that you used last year to get the job you are going to. You will probably need to re-submit it in order to "extend" or look for yet another transfer.

Congrats anyway.

Jim

BMCM Stuart S. Slesh
01-01-2008, 02:30 PM
Yeah, I say you still transfer..... I just wouldn't plan on full tours for everyone advancing.

I wish the CMC message would come out so that the BMCM cut can start to take shape. In the meantime, I guess I'll break out the SWE study guide Monday when I get underway.

BMC Bill Hollandsworth

Jeff,

As the others have pointed out, you will get a call from the detailer! I talked to the D9 detailer prior to the list being updated and he told me that if I was above the cut or advanced prior to them establishing the list of available jobs for AY09, I would be short toured. So I finally get the opportunity to be an OIC (Sta Rochester) and know I will be there for only a year. The great part is I'll be submitting an OIC Packet for AY09 having not even reported to my new command this year.

BMCS Daniel Bennett
01-08-2008, 11:18 PM
I advanced after receiving my orders to Lake Tahoe. I got the call from the detailer several months back that my rotation date would change from 2011 to 2009. At least I got 2 years and not 1. So, I'll be waiting to see what's available next year.

Now that the GB jobs are finalized (msg to be released this week), look for some revisions to the BMCM cuts, at least that is the word from a "reliable source", and it’s not Stu.

Be safe,

Deane, thanks... No need for the entire list.. there are only a few I know on this list.. Sure don't understand why they have an E-8 making E-9 on CAPSTAN. Usually it's an E-7 making E-8.

John, everyone selected already has had their orders issued. The message is just for notification to the fleet.

BMCM Stuart S. Slesh
01-27-2008, 11:04 AM
Wray, I was in a similar situation. I got orders for the HAWSER as an E-7 and found out I was making E-8 shortly after reporting. It was a three year billet and I took ther SWE for E-9 prior to departing.

Bruce, I want the top ten because we were told it should be a normal advancement year. On the personal side note I want them to make up to Bob Milmoe, ..... at some point, I've served in or around #1,5,6,7,8,9....5-9 while in Bayonne....... I'm pulling for the top ten.

BMCM Stuart S. Slesh
01-27-2008, 11:18 AM
While I'm listing my wants........ I want them to revise the list before people get too involved in studying for a SWE they won't need..... That first cut should be 5 and be Deane's Valentine's Day present.... and they revise it again to 9 for Bob before St Patrick's Day. Now who could argue with that plan?

Wray, I posted the list after I got it from an e-mail chain. Someone who read the post suggested that I remove it because the ALCOAST hasn't come out yet...... and pointed out that the list isn't supposed to be common knowledge yet. You can't delete or edit your own posts after a period of time, so I had to edit it as Admin. We offer that same service to anyone who wants to retract a post.
I'll put the list up as soon as it's authorized for internet release, ....which should be very soon.

even the President wants you and Deane to advance.....

On Monday the President signed H.R. 4986: National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2008 which contains the following change for E-9's.

SEC. 406. INCREASE IN AUTHORIZED DAILY AVERAGE OF NUMBER OF MEMBERS IN PAY GRADE E-9.

Section 517(a) of title 10, United States Code, is amended by striking `1 percent' and inserting `1.25 percent'.

Everyone,

Don’t get all excited about this yet. Authorization and appropriation are not the same thing. Just because we can create new positions does not mean we can fund new positions. Right now, all this does is put a little slack in the line for EPM-1.

In the short term, this should have very little effect on advancements or cuts.

Be Safe.

Understand Master Chief...

Thanks Stu & Ian. Bruce...I can't wait to purge my office of ALL SWE material.

BMCM Stuart S. Slesh
03-11-2008, 07:19 PM
I'm surprised it when to 10. I was hoping for 9,....... don't know what went into the final number. I heard we were over on BMCMs. I guess we got a couple of late letters. I also wonder how the 1.25 bump helped.

I really wonder how many BMCSs they would have made. The list will be cleared. Kinda makes you wonder why people wouldn't want to make themselves eligible for the list that never seems to have enough people on it. They made people early off of the list which makes you think there weren't enough people taking it last year....... how long before we have a BMCS supplemental list?

Any chance someone could cut and paste the message and PM it to me? I've already been told to dust off the dancing shoes... but I need a paper copy of the list to show my command cadre.

Being away from the CGDN is a pain... but I'm heading to Boston this summer - over a year early...

Here is a link for USCG messages:

The May 2008 SWE Revised Cutoff message has not posted there yet but you should see it shortly, they are usually a day or two behind the actual release date. This is a good resource for general messages without CGDN access although the ones that are not internet releasable won't be there.

Don't you mean Per Se? I thought you were a graduate. I'm the dropout here. :D
Are you competing for E-8 this May or are you still putting all your eggs in the ELC basket?

Steph,

Hopefully to my Living Room. I have a cozy fuchsia easy chair in there, that I'm planing to use during the work day. But I think it might clash with my office supplies. Viva la MLCP!

Will the C2CEN Technology division be part of C4IT? I thought I saw that in some of the organizational maps floating around. What is current your job at MLCL? Have you finally met everyone over there? If you haven't you should get around and say hi to MC Ronan and ETCS Waters. They are a total trip; in a good way of course. I'm going to miss talking to MLCL, when my billet finally gets changed.

FYI: the PacArea Admiral is using the word "virtual" over here too.
My job, TE Manager, will be consolidated under C4IT-ESD-TSB. At the moment another ETC, at MLCP, has been mapped to that department, however I am working on a switch. If that doesn't follow through, I will be standing up the new ESD at Alameda.

It's still unclear how supervision/COC, in this new Virtual work world, will work. I have a feeling everything will remain the same in that respect, unofficially at least.

That might be, but the PacArea Admiral is even using the term "virtual" in reference to the changes in our world of work.

Well, the revised cuts have been released.

Any chance someone could cut and paste the message and PM it to me? I've already been told to dust off the dancing shoes... but I need a paper copy of the list to show my command cadre.

Being away from the CGDN is a pain... but I'm heading to Boston this summer - over a year early...

Senior, I am expecting free beverages when I'm down there in a few weeks.

Listen, Master Chief - are you aware of what you are supposed to call a person above the cut for Master Chief??

A phreaking walking bar tab.

Drinks are on this amazed Senior Chief... and thank you!!
