John,
Almost 5 weeks.
It will take 8 years to make CWO4.
It would take about 4 maybe 4.5 to make O-3 E. Another 6 after that to make O4. I think CWO4 at 26 and O-4 are pretty close with the new raises.

Class One, November 1982!
Later this month I will have the privilege of being in Petaluma with others from Class One to meet the members of Class 146, celebrate their accomplishment and this milestone in Coast Guard history and hopefully share a lie, ahh-story or two about the CPO Academy, past and present.
To say that I am honored to be included, is an understatement of huge proportion and I intend to savor every single moment of our interaction together.
To Class 146, the journey is almost complete; you must now stay the course, reach higher (Altus Tendo) and forever be, Semper Paratus!

Bruce, you got that right.... still feel the big looser in that (HYT) was the CG... but not my problem any more...
Yesterday when I was taking my boat (the one I work on) out for sea trials, some guy came up to me with a "Cape May" shirt on.. Said his kid was the "Commandant or Superintendent of cadets" or something like that... He went on to say something about retiring at 40 with 100%... so I looked at the cape may site.. is the CO there a mustang, with parents living in Jersey? (His car had Jersey plates) I didn't see the XO on the web site... just you (CMC) and the CO... where is your picture?
Oh well, just curious, not important. Finally got through sea trials with the Cat mechanics.. after a small engineroom fire... Had a great day to do it after the fog burnt off... Who knows, maybe we'll make it to the Miami boat show after all.. (kinda hope we don't... if the owner sells it I'll loose all this tax free income  :( ) (foreign flag vessel)
Wear those uniforms in good health... While I didn't wear them much I did think they were much better looking than SDB's with a bow tie.
Wray...
BMCM Bruce Bradley
12-30-2007, 09:52 AM
Wray, I'm getting my picture taken later this week, I was in denial over that whole thing I guess. The CO was in one the first classes with women at the CGA and the current XO is CDR Chris Calhoun.
And the 40 year 100% came last year with the DoD budget and a change to the law. Actually it's 2.5% for every year over 20, with no limit. And not the pay scales go to 40 years with longevity raises every 2 years again. The new scale is for senior enlisted (8 and 9), CWO4 and O-6 and above. But the extra 2.5% is for anyone. But the only way for an enlisted to stay past 30 is to get a badge.
And so far I've gotten to wear them 4 or 5 times so far, real sharp looking.
BMCM Wray Gillette (Ret)
12-30-2007, 10:24 AM
Bruce, yeah I was aware it was for anyone, but I doubt this guys child is an enlisted person.. I was thinking it was a mustang up there.. either CO or XO... do you know if their (either one) parents live in Jersey...
Just thought it was funny bumping into him in St Augustine FL.. He obviously saw my CG decal on on my car....

Check the Academy's website, when I went through they had about 125 picks posted.
Not sure which class it was http://www.uscg.mil/hq/tcpet/cpoa/pixArchive.shtm
